The lovely sea falls and rises in the luscious tides, the breeze flows across creating sweet sounds, the trees spanning the length of the beach look mesmerizing and walking on the silver sands all the while matching your rhythmic steps in sync with the beautiful weather around. Wow! Sounds like paradise!
Indeed beach walking is one of the most desirable and fun loving exercises for both fitness and weight loss purposes. It is a cardio workout, helps in losing weight, toning your body and strengthening the legs. Since it is an outdoor exercise, it makes you fresh instantly because of the pleasing weather and environment. Walking on the sand burns more calories compared to a hard surface. In fact, a brisk power walk on the sands is as good as jogging.
To have the proper effects, remember to walk in the dry sands and not the damp sands. The damp sands are easy to walk on and are meant for leisure, not exercise. If you are going for a short stroll, then bare feet are fine, else put on the shoes or sandals. The best time for a walk includes is early morning and evening. Try to avoid areas which are filled with gravel and pebbles. However, be prepared from the harsh sun by using sunglasses, sunscreen lotion and a water bottle by your side.
