It is common for women to gain a lot of weight during their pregnancy. Also, because of the amount of rest that they are advised to do during their pregnancy, they become a little lethargic. All the time during their pregnancy, they are told to avoid strenuous activities, but that cannot remain the same after childbirth too.
Post child delivery, it becomes very important for the woman to reduce calories and get back in shape again. At the same time, she also needs to focus on making her body fit and working on the immunity and stamina level. Therefore, a regular exercise regime needs to be followed.
The exercises that need to be carried out immediately after pregnancy should be mild. These should including walking, and some amount of stretching. While walking will help in beginning the process of losing calories and getting back in shape again, stretching will help in toning the muscles and will work on the fitness of your body.
After around 2 weeks, the woman can indulge in exercises like jogging, running and some amount of aerobics etc. Walking holds an important position at this stage also, where you can easily take out your baby’s stroller and go for walks with your infant. You need to be out in the fresh air to start working on your immunity.
Along with the exercising, ensure that you are consuming a healthy diet, which has all the nutrients required by your body. Since you focus will be more on lactation, consume foods that are high on Iron and Vitamin C.
About a month later, after the child birth, you could even think of joining a gym or some exercise classes that focus on mother and child health both. You could take your baby along to such classes, and you will be amazed to see how your instructor makes you do so many different kinds of exercises with the help of your baby! The best part is that you will be able to meet so many new mothers, and you will be able to interact with them and discuss on maintaining your body fitness.
