Better than cycling outdoors would be to use an exercise cycle at home since this gives you more control on the time and intensity of your exercise.

A good sport to take up is golf. This has a lot of walking, although it is not too brisk. You can play as much as you want to, and it is not too fast. You must make sure that you do not carry your clubs around yourself since the kit can be quite heavy. If you feel like you want to slow it down, you can also take the help of a golf cart. The swinging is good for you.

Getting the right balance between exercise and rest, and doing moderate exercise is important. Heart exercise must be coupled with your own body type and also your disposition, so there can be no real fix that is universal. Make sure that you consult with your physician before you take up any workout, and go for regular check ups to monitor your progress.
