All doctors will encourage people with diabetes to begin an exercise routine sot hat they can control their diabetes. This is especially necessary for those who are overweight. The more overweight you are, the more is the chance for you to develop this disease.As you keep gaining weight, it becomes more and more difficult to try and keep the glucose levels in control. Since you will be put on insulin, exercising will help make the tissues in your body more sensitive to it. It is necessary to get the glucose out of the blood and into the cells. This is what exercise does for you, and thereby reduces the amount of glucose which is in your blood.

People who have diabetes are more likely to have high cholesterol and blood pressure. This, in turn, can cause heart attacks and is more common with diabetics. Exercise is a great way to control and reduce both cholesterol and blood pressure.

Most diabetics take medication to control their glucose level. Regular exercising will not only reduce the level of glucose, but also keep it low for a few hours.

Regular exercising will in time, allow you to reduce your dosage of medication. Those who are suffering from diabetes and have stress; the stress will cause a level of increase in glucose and regular exercising will reduce the levels of stress.

When you exercise, you are improving your muscle strength and toning your body. This will benefit your other organs like heart and feet which sufefr from diabetes. It will also increase your stamina and strengthen your bones.

What is more important to know for diabetics who are exercising is that the more you exercise, the more food you may need. Do not do a very vigorous or strenuous workout and also make sure that you do not hurt yourself during your workout as this can get dangerous if you are diabetic.

Even if your sugar levels are in control, it is better to consult a doctor and let him know the kind of exercise you are going to be beginning. Depending on your age and kind of diabetes he will advise you on the correct exercise for you.
