Diabetes is caused due to severe illness, damage of pancreas, malfunctioning of the liver, due to excess consumption of sugar, sedentary jobs, very less physical activities, and heredity etc. However diabetes can be prevented if you take some precautions.
Here are some ways how to prevent diabetes.
It has been observed that people whose parents are diabetic tend to be diabetic easily. If either mother or father is diabetic, then the chances are less but still you are prone to be diabetic more than those whose parents are not diabetics. Therefore you need to take extra precautions to avoid diabetes.
Foods play vital role in the prevention of diabetes. Eat fruits for sweet taste rater than sweets made artificially because your body can’t store fructose for a long time. Also eat foods rich in fiber because fiber burns fats and lowers cholesterol and maintains proper digestion due to which you can prevent diabetes. Green vegetables, fruits, oats, soybeans etc. are good sources of fiber.
Protein is very helpful in lowering blood sugar levels therefore increase the consumption of protein in your food. You can eat protein rich foods such as soybeans, milk, beans, lentils, fish, yogurt, eggs, soy milk, spinach, oats, whole grains, legumes etc. If you doubt that you can become diabetic, your consumption of protein should be sufficient to decrease your sugar levels.
Keep monitoring your blood sugar levels by regular check ups. There are two kinds of tests for blood sugar. The first one is in empty stomach and the second one is approximately 2 hours after eating your food or breakfast.
If your sugar level is even a bit above normal range you should be alert and take prevention to control diabetes. To prevent diabetes your sweet consumption should be minimized. You should avoid even soft drinks or any eatable things which contain sugar. Keep your weight according to your height and age. Do not become overweight. Fiber foods also control weight.
You must exercise daily for 30-45 minutes to prevent diabetes. Walking for 30-45 minutes is very good for you. Instead of using lifts, use staircases. Also avoid vehicles for a short distance.
