Use A Partner and Focus Mitts
Skill is the basic requirement for kickboxing training. Use a training partner and focus mitts to make your strikes accurate. Focus mitts will help you to practice your punches and kicks at various heights and will force you to target a specific point.
Ask your partner to push you to your maximum endurance level. It will help you to improve your overall skills and you will be trained in to a better fighter.
Shadow Boxing
Practice in front of a mirror. You will be able to spot the flaws in your technique and shadow boxing will improve your speed and skill.
Heavy Bag Training
Use heavy bags for a combination of both cardio and strength training. Using heavy punching bags will increase your stamina and striking power.Try to imagine that the bag is your real opponent and circle the bag while practicing.
Improve Flexibility and Endurance
You need to improve your endurance and flexibility level to be successful and to avoid injury. While running and jumping rope can increase your endurance, you should concentrate on core mobility to be more flexible.
Kickboxing Perfection Drills
There are some basic kickboxing drills which can be used in various combinations and different sequences.The combinations and sequences are limitless but you need to be perfect in each and every kick. It needs a lot of practice and endurance. Here are the basic kickboxing drills that you need to master.
Front Kick
Start it very slowly and then speed up. At the end you need to explode it.
Back Kick
First kick at knee high, next kick at rib high and next you have to kick at head high.
Side Kick
First practice it in slow pace and then try to speed up.
Roundhouse Kick
You should practice it in alternate mode from left to right stance and then repeat it. These are the basic drills of kickboxing training. Now you can practice them in real situations in various combinations. Here are a few examples-
Rib Kicks
You will need a sparring partner to practice it. First, stand in front of your partner. Now, practice roundhouse kicks to the strong ribs on your partner’s armpits with sixty to seventy five percent powers. To avoid accident keep your hands on your head.
Floating Bag
Use a heavy bag and punch it or kick it on the forty five degree angle from its hanging position.
Push Kick
Use a 100 pound heavy bag and throw a front kick. Your aim should be pushing the bag as far as possible instead of striking it with force. Only the bag will swing but you should not move an inch.
