Body building is indeed an art which is to be admired from afar. For the body builders body building is nothing short of a religion. However to maintain their body many sacrifices are needed from the personal life of these body builders. Even though the whole professional life of a body builder is that of glamour the same is not necessarily the case after retirement.

The challenges facing the body builders after retiring are as mental as physical. Here are a few tips which will help a retiring body builder to cope up with life after body building.

Reasons Why A Body Builder Has To Retire:

One thing which has to be understood is that there is no fixed norm or time to retire from body building. However there are few factors which contribute towards the retirement of a body builder. The first factor which contributes towards retirement is age.

It is a very personal decision about when to quit. However after a certain age it becomes unhealthy to intensely work out as the bones become fragile and weak. However the definite age when the effects of old age catches up is not certain. It mainly depends not on the number of years but rather the effects of the years on the physique of a body builder.

The second factor is injury. Every body builder usually gets injured during the course of their career. Even a relatively young body builder may get injured which may end his body building career. The third and the last factor is personal decision. One fine day a body builder may wake up from sleep and decide it’s time to quit because it is no longer enjoyable.

Lifestyle Advised After Retiring From Body Building:

The art of body building is developing and maintaining a physically fit body. A body builder should treat his body as piously as a holy temple. This process should be thoroughly enjoyed. However unfortunately the reason why most body builders quit body building is because they stop enjoying it.

Due to this the body usually goes into a retro drive as all previous routines of work outs are stopped suddenly without any reason.Whenever a body builder is quitting it is important that he does not quit in one go. The process of quitting must be gradual and definitely not sudden.

The best way is to gradually decrease the training workouts if you are nearing your retirement. In fact even after retiring it is strongly advised for the former body builders to maintain an active lifestyle. The active lifestyle includes simple aerobics at the very least.

Proactive Educational And Clinical Outreach Program:

Body builders would benefit from a proactive and clinical program even before retirement comes calling. Research shows that after retirement a high percentage suffers from pain. So attending this program will help the body builders to adapt to the new life they are trying to live.

Keep up The Exercising:

It is often found that at the end of the body building career, the body builders are often reluctant to do the simplest of exercises. However running on treadmills, doing free hands are some exercises which are highly recommended as otherwise the retired bodybuilder is going to shrink in size. Even though it is accepted that after retirement, a portion is going to shrink but lack of any exercise will push that portion to misappropriate measures.

Cycling:

In many cases even though ex- body builders know that they should exercise in order to control their shrinking but they are still reluctant due to the fact that they are no longer ready to even make a little effort. In such cases it is important to look for some measures which will not at all feel like exercising.

Cycling is indeed a novel way to do just that.Even though the required amount of exercising is got from just pedaling 6 kms\day but since it hardly feels like exercising the ex body builders should not mind doing this chore everyday.

Swimming:

Another foolproof way of exercising though not feeling like it is swimming. Since swimming is relaxing thus it does not feel like exercise at all. But the art of swimming is that it is one of the best exercises to keep in shape san the excess muscle.  Thus swimming regularly is a great substitute if someone does not like the more conventional exercises.

Returning To Normal Life

The most important thing which an ex body builder has to understand is that his career as a body builder is over. In such a scenario he must be prepared for a life like a normal person san the excess bulging muscle.

He has to come to the realization that after retirement, over a period of years the perfectly toned body is going to shrink down. Even if he takes protective measures like following the steps mentioned above he is still going to shrink in bulk a fair bit.

The trick is to understand that even in the reduced bulk it is possible to have a perfectly toned body. So if an ex body builder wants to have a perfect body like his body building days he can achieve that.

There will just be a difference in the bulk. After maintaining a fit body it is imperative that they don’t take drugs or steroids of any kind to gain that mass of the body building period.

The reason is that you cannot take the drugs forever and when you stop taking the drugs the body is just going to shrink to such an extent that it is not possible to believe unless one sees it with their own eyes. So keeping off drugs is the only sane advice which an ex body builder can follow no matter what the temptation is.

Happy Life:

If these instructions can be followed to the letter, a reasonably fit body with no ailments is definitely possible. This in turn will get rid of all depressions related to an unfit body.

A Word Of Advice:

Be happy about your past life but don’t obsess over it any longer as it is over. Be ready for the next part of your life because no matter what it is definitely going to be an adventure. So look up and don’t be afraid to grab the next opportunity that comes your way.
