Tone Your Thighs

Toning thighs is very important for a lean body. People who have heavier thighs know that toning thighs is not easy. Thigh lifts are great to tone your thighs. There are two sets of thigh lifts; one is the outer thigh lift and the other one is the inner thigh lift. Here are a few simple exercises that help to tone your thighs.

Tone your Thighs with Inner Thigh Lifts

Start by lying down sideways, i.e. you don’t have to lie down on your back or stomach. Hold your head with your arms; near the cheeks. One of the legs in on the floor sideways and the other is facing the ceiling. Now bend the leg facing the ceiling at the knee. Move it forward and keep it in front of your body.

Keep the free hand (one facing the ceiling) on your hip to give support. The leg on the floor should be stretched out straight. Now, lift the leg on the floor slowly in the air a few inches above the ground. Keep it straight and raise it to a height you can comfortably reach. You have to use your inner thigh muscles or adductor to do this.

When you raise your leg, exhale slowly and keep your toes flexed. Then, inhale and lower your leg to the floor again. Perform about 5-10 raises and repeat the same for the other leg also. Inner thigh lift is excellent for toning thighs. While doing this exercise breathe easily at all times.

You do not have to hold your breath at any point; just inhale and exhale while lowering and raising your leg respectively. Squeeze your adductor while your leg is moving. Ensure that your body is straight; your hips and shoulder should be in the same line. All these precautions are important to avoid straining any muscles.

Tone your Thighs with Outer Thigh Lift

Take the same position lying down on the floor as explained in the inner thigh lift. This time you will raise the leg facing and ceiling. In the inner thigh lift you raised the leg on the floor. It is exactly opposite with the outer thigh lift, you have to raise the outer leg or the leg facing ceiling. Flex your toes and exhale while lifting the leg up. Next, inhale and lower the leg to the floor again. Perform these raises at a gradual pace and not very rapidly.  These two exercises done together are very effective for toning thighs.
