Working Out in Summer

It can be more difficult to work out in summer. Although, unlike winter where you have a problem getting out, summer is a good time to be outdoors and spend some time on other exercises as well. It can be taxing as the body is worked more, and has the added task of coping with the heat. Here are hints which can help you work out through the summerfeeling more relaxed .

Wear the correct clothes. This is a good time to ditch your long sweaty track pants for some shorts. Make sure that you wear only cottons and not jerseys. You will sweat more, and it will all just get trapped in your clothes. Try and wear vests instead of tee shirts, or simple cotton tees if you must. Do not wear your sweat shirts around your waist, as this is one added way of getting more heat generated in your body. The colour of your clothes are also important. Wear lighter colours which are less likely to absorb heat. This will also help you keep cooler.

Have some fluid even before you have started exercising. This will give you more energy to exercise, and will prevent you from dehydrating through your exercise. It takes fluids some time to get absorbed into the body fully, so give your body the benefit of this.

Try and get to working the body early in the morning, or later in the evening when the heat is less direct and scorching. You will also be less likely to suffer the ultra violet rays of the sun.

If your workout means being outdoors, then try and work a little slowly, and do not go for an intense workout. Even if this in turn means that you will be out in the sun for longer, it will take less of a toll on the body.

Do not take a steam after you have worked out, even if it makes you feel refreshed. In the summer, your body temperature is likely to be slightly higher, the sauna will not do your body any good at all.

Do not avoid the sun and sit indoors as you need the sunlight in summer. That’s what it is for. Plan your workout intelligently and get he most you can from this season.
